SIPAT LAWIN ENSEMBLE

Contemporary Performance Community. Contemporary Cultural Laboratory.

Sipat Lawin Ensemble (SLE) is an edge-work contemporary independent performance company in Manila composed of theater makers formally trained in the vocabulary of Drama/Theater. Sustaining an alternative art practice and laboratory in Manila, the Ensemble devises relevant new works and develops contemporary performance communities through workshops, residencies, and exchanges. Changing the landscape of theater and performance in the Philippines, the collective aims to continuously develop contemporary performance community experiences shared among artists and audiences; creating new forms of inter-action, social engagements, and modes of production.

OFFSITE DANCE PROJECT

Offsite (offsite) means "leave our daily routine".

The Offsite Dance Project was formed in 2008 as a team promoting performing arts with dance around various places other than theaters. Plan and produce high-performance performance projects based on Yokohama, such as public transportation, modern architecture, parks, commercial spaces, vacant shops, streets, etc. in urban space both in Japan and abroad. By incorporating the various spaces and environments around us into the work, we expand the domain and possibilities of the dance itself and create a new stimulus for the artist's imagination and spectators' eyes. Also, since 2009, we have coordinated art education and are working on spreading contemporary dance.
